Future Goals

Burlington Humane Future Goals:

 

BHS Business Plan

  • Complete a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis
  • Determine a 1, 3-5 and 10 year strategic plan
  • Formalize action plans to achieve the strategic plan (these will be based on the outcomes of the SWOT- we will rank each item and prioritize based on ranking)
  • Determine metrics to help us measure our performance (adoptions, cost savings, vet costs, etc.)
  • Re-write the BHS by-laws and letters patent as soon as the new Canadian Corporation Not-for-Profit Act is passed

 

Volunteer Management

  • Create a volunteer statement
  • Create a volunteer recruitment strategy including, branding, interviews, job descriptions, etc.
  • Develop a formalized volunteer recognition program
  • Host monthly "Chips and Chat" volunteer sessions to discuss ideas and improvements

 

Cost Savings ($10,000 each year)

  • Investigate grants/proposals opportunities
  • Investigate supplier savings (food, medications, litter, etc.) and vet savings (cost of care)
  • Work with Tim Regan to implement building savings (energy reduction, etc.)

 

Employee Management

  • Goal Setting for staff (based on employee development and business plan objectives)
  • Performance Management program (review process)
  • Recognition program
  • Implement monthly staff meetings

 

Animal Classification System

  • Develop a "Meet your Match" system for cats and dogs
  • Placards for cages and internet
  • Animal analysis when they come in
