We adopted a sweet little kitten Shadow, now called Jack, on Labour Day weekend. My two daughters wanted to raise money for the Humane Society sothey decided to host a gingerbread party before Christmas and in lieu of hostess gifts for themselves, they asked their guests for a donation to the Humane Society. The girls were very excited to raise $160. They were very pleased to donate this money on behalf of their friends and themselves and hope that many more animals find a home just like Jack.

On May 22, 2010, Erin & Alison held a moving sale in which they donated all the proceeds to the Burlington Humane Society. Erin & Alison raised over $400 to help the animals at the shelter.

 Ryan just turned 4 years old and collected cat and dog supplies from guests at the party rather then receiving toys for himself!

 Sophia recently celebrated her birthday and requested that in lieu of presents, her guests donate money to the Burlington Humane Society. Sophia raised $50!! Sophia is pictured with her sister and two of our kittens.
 Earlier this year, Laura entered her dog Diesel in a contest to win a year's supply of Hills Science Diet pet food. Diesel won the contest and Laura graciously decided to donate the food and treats to our shelter. We received 6 bags of 35lb adult dog food and many bags of treats.  Paige is in grade 2 at Orchard Park Public School and came to us as a part of the Mr. Nobody project. Paige collected and donated toys for the cats and dogs at the shelter. Paige is pictured here with Lily.

Madison brought the animals bags of toys and bowls and treats along with a montary donation of $375.00 plus a gift card to a local pet store. Over Christmas, Elle decided she wanted to raise some money for the Burlington Humane Society in honour of dogs in need like a friend's dog named Lexi and her own cat who she got from our shelter years ago. She put a donation sheet up at Snap Fitness (located in Burlington) and asked people to make a donation of a few dollars in exchange for hand-made dream-catchers, which she made herself. Elle made dozens of these - working really hard every night to keep up with all her requests! You can imagine how much work it took for her to raise $100. Snap Fitness then kindly matched the funds raised for a total of $200.

Burlington Humane once again took part in Deloitte's Impact Day and we are very thankful for all the work Deloitte's employees did on Saturday 26th September.
An army of volunteers from Deloitte arrived for a quick tour and then got to work gardening, scrubbing washrooms and cleaning windows as well as anything else they could do for us - leaving the adoption centre sparkling when they left.
Thank you for this contribution to both us and all the other groups that take part in Impact Day.
Jake, quite the entrepreneur raised money through the summer by collecting and selling golf balls. Jake worked hard and split the money he raised up, giving himself some spending money, saving some for his future and donated over $60 towards the care of the animals at Burlington Humane

A donation was sent to BHS from her employer, RBC, in honour of her volunteer services provided to the animals (and the rest of thank you for waking up early every Sunday morning)
 While we were busy with our Ruff Ride, Rachel, William, Alexandra and Meghan were busy selling lemonade and came by the shelter as things wound down to visit with the kittens and puppies and donate the money they had raised from keeping people refreshed with their yummy lemonade on a warm September day. On Fri. July 10, 2009 Michelle Riccio and Nicole D’Amato from Astra Zeneca Canada Inc. participated in their company’s VIP – Volunteer Investment Program.
Michelle and Nicole volunteered their time assisting with the animals, cleaning the shelter and gardening.

 Alyssa, with some help, worked hard to cheer up our 'chill room' where with all sorts of beds for the cats as well as ledges where they can play. They worked very hard installing all of the ledges as you can see pictured here and spent some time at the shelter watching the kittens enjoy the fruits of their labour.
