Becoming A Member of Burlington Humane Society’s
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are a 12 member board of volunteers who are integral in the day to day operations of the Society and the Shelter itself. Each Board member brings unique skills and talents to their position in order to ensure that BHS is operating according to its vision statement and regulatory requirements. The Board at BHS is considered to be a working board. Each member is expected to contribute a significant amount of time and energy to the organization. The Board meets formally once per month, but its members are regularly involved in the daily operation of the shelter as well they are expected to help plan and execute several of our fundraising activities held throughout the year.
There is no monetary compensation for Board members of Burlington Humane Society, it is strictly a voluntary position. And of course, a love of animals is an important prerequisite for the job!!
From time to time a vacancy opens on the Board, and we are always interested in hearing from energetic and skilled people willing to take on the challenges involved in helping to shape the future of BHS.
